RESPONSIBLE LIBRARY USE

General rules for all library users.

  1. Use the library with valid identification

Students and staff should use the library with their valid college identity or library identification and should cooperate with the library staff whenever verification is required.

  2. Maintain a quiet study environment

Every reader is expected to maintain silence, keep mobile devices on silent mode and avoid conversations or activities that may disturb others using the reading and reference areas.

  3. Handle books and resources carefully

Library books, journals, newspapers, furniture and digital facilities should be handled with care. Marking pages, folding corners, removing pages or otherwise damaging library property is not permitted.

  4. Follow the issue and return procedure

Materials taken outside the library must be properly issued at the circulation counter and returned within the period communicated by the library. Issued material should not be transferred to another person without an authorised transaction.

  5. Report loss or damage promptly

Any lost or damaged book or resource should be reported to the librarian without delay. The matter will be handled according to the library and college regulations applicable at that time.

  6. Use reference material within the library

Reference books, rare material, current periodicals and other restricted resources should be consulted in the designated area unless the library staff specifically permits otherwise.

  7. Keep personal belongings in the designated place

Bags, food and other personal items should be kept only in the areas indicated by the library. Readers remain responsible for their own valuables while using the library premises.

  8. Respect library staff and other readers

Users should follow reasonable instructions given by the library staff and help preserve an inclusive, disciplined and academically supportive environment for everyone.
